In order to make the trip our team needs to raise the funds required through personal funds, fundraising activities, sponsorship, and private donations.
Both of the teams from St. Bernard School chose a creative challenge that highlights and solves a social issue in our community. One team, The Creative Kids, is a team of our elementary school students whose project involved making care packages for foster children entering new homes. These packages are made up of items that may have been left behind when they were removed from the home. Our other team, the Cosmos, is a team of middle school students. Their project involved addressing and distributing warm clothing for area children.
Both teams competed at the Green Bay, Wisconsin regional tournament and received an invitation to the Wisconsin state tournament in Stevens Point. At the state tournament both teams earned an invitation to the global tournament in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is a huge honor to receive an invitation to the global tournament but it is also very expensive. Each DI season about 200,000 children work on creative problem solving challenges and approximately 16,000 end up in Knoxville to compete against teams from around the world (more than 15 countries are represented).
We hope you can provide some help in making this possible for these kids.
