EVENT DATE: May 06, 2018
Be a runner who helps former runners.
On May 18th, 2014, I completed my first marathon – the Cleveland marathon. Completing those 26.2 mile race was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.
I plan to undertake a similar challenge again this year on May 6, 2018 for the Dick's Sporting Goods City of Pittsburgh Half-Marathon, but this time I have a more important goal than just completing the race. I want to give back and so I am committed to raising a minimum of $500 to benefit Steel City Greyhounds as a part of their marathon team … I have decided to be a runner who helps save former runners!
I began my training for the half-marathon at the start of the year and by the time race day comes I’ll have run approximately 400 miles!! However, my success on May 6th will be measured both physically and financially. My own training will prepare me to meet the physical challenge; won't you help me meet my financial challenge with a contribution?
Destined to be raised in the racing environment, greyhounds begin their lives like no other breed. They are very competitive athletes, yet gentle and sensitive by nature, making them perfect canine companions. But when done racing, they need homes. They don’t require a huge space to run, just regular exercise and once inside the house, they enjoy curling up in the corner on a soft bed. Your donation will help move these 45 mph couch potatoes from kennel to couch.
