BENEFITING: STEEL CITY GREYHOUNDS INC
ORGANIZER: STEEL CITY GREYHOUNDS INC
EVENT DATE: May 04, 2014
Eighteen months ago, I decided to try going for a run. Over a thousand miles later, it’s fair to say that I’m more than a little bit addicted.
Two months ago, Susan and I decided to adopt a greyhound. Although we’ve only known Jive for a few weeks, it’s fair to say that we’re more than a little bit addicted.
In less than two months I’ll run my first official half-marathon, and I’ll do it in support of Steel City Greyhounds. SCG is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization that promotes the adoption of retired racing greyhounds in western Pennsylvania. Steel City puts dogs like Jive into permanent homes and covers the costs of transportation, boarding, and medical needs. Furthermore, SCG provides support, networking, outreach, and events for new and prospective greyhound adopters. I cannot overstate how impressed I have been with the group, nor how supported I’ve felt during Jive’s adoption and settling-in period.
I’m very proud — and very fortunate — to be in a position to run this race, and I look forward to it more each day. Having a great cause like Steel City Greyhounds to race for only adds to my enthusiasm and strengthens my determination to cross the finish line.
If you’d like to support Steel City Greyhounds, this is the place. No donation is too small. Jive, Susan, and I will appreciate it, and the volunteers and hounds of SCG will too.
