Haiti is the poorest country in the northern hemisphere. Haiti faces many challenges on a day to day basis. One of the major challenges the country faces that contribute to the poor social and economic development is lack of quality education. In Haiti woman are the back bone of the community and the economy due to their roles and contributions. They keep the community together and provide for their family as well as those around them. Providing woman with the necessary skills and knowledge is necessary in order to help the country developed and improve the well being of families and community. Therefore it is crucial that we help woman in Haiti be leaders and entrepreneurs; the best way to do that is to educate them when their young. As a result I've created STEM Access for Girls in Haiti. STEM Access for Girls in Haiti aims to provide quality education to young woman in Haiti through mentorship, technical studies and hands-workshops. In Haiti, Many students are not afforded the opportunity to hone in on technical skills that will allow them to compete in the global market. Our goal is to fuel their curiosity and give them the exposure needed to pursue a STEM field career path. Furthermore, the skills learned will create opportunities to contribute to Haiti’s industrial growth and job market. Haiti is an onion that needs to be peel. In order to help the country transform, it’s important to tackle the problems one layer at a time. In order for these young ladies to gain access to STEM education, they must have access to adequate equipment and resources. I am in need of funding to purchase the supplies to conduct the workshops. STEM Access for Girls will utilize hands-on tools from STEMfinity, a world leader in STEM education. They also need laptops and school supplies. Funds will also cover the cost of other resources they will need. You can help provide quality education to young woman in developing countries like Haiti by making a donations to help purchase the workshops supplies.Together we can help these young ladies step out of the constraints of the Haitian culture and create the next generation of woman leaders and role models.
