Formerly known as Operation Homefront San Diego/Southern California, Support The Enlisted Project (STEP) is making a difference in the lives of military and veteran families in an exciting new way.
Military families make tremendous sacrifices and serve our country with pride, respect, and extraordinary valor. But the 12 months following a service member's discharge from the military is absolutely critical and sets the tone for their success in the civilian world. This is where STEP is “stepping” in.
Our mission is simple. STEP provides emergency financial and transition assistance grants to active duty and recently discharged enlisted military and their families. Assistance is ALWAYS provided as a grant, not a loan, to help the family move forward without the burden or worry of paying off another debt. Regardless of the service member’s deployment status, injuries and wounds sustained in combat, or length of military service—we are here to help. Financial hardship doesn’t favor one service member or veteran over another, and STEP’s emergency grants have helped countless military and veteran families in their time of need. STEP's commitment to our mission has helped us earn a GuideStar Exchange Seal and a 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator, an honor given to only 3% of America's charities.
With your help, STEP can continue forging ahead with valuable programs and services that help our Nation’s heroes and their families successfully transition back into civilian life. It’s not just our honor to serve those who have served for us. It’s our duty.
