Stephanies fight for education! Needs laptop
Organized by: Stephanie Monroe
Hey everyone! I would really like to share my story in order to see the importance of getting a laptop. My story is a remarkable tale of complete resilience. I was born into a abusive family with mentally unstable parents (skitzophenic mom, alcoholic violent dad). I had many trials and tribulations growing up which landed me in foster care do to homelessness, physical abuse, parents didint put me in school, bad health do lack of food and no doctor visits...In foster care I suffered from severe trama both from foster care and prior. In addition, I had the odds of success against me do to huge gaps in my education, months of being forced to not attend school, PTSD, and my mother committing suicide. Those were all out of my control. But once I made it to high school I put forth all my effort to catch up academically.. I mean nights staying up till 3:am to finish my homework and to understand it. My senior year of high school I was homeless at one point and when I found housing I paid my own rent while attending school. I got accepted to almost every college I applied too. I earned my diploma with a B average and went straight to a 4 year university. At my university (san francisco state), I maintained a high GPA, won 2 honor roll awards, all while working jobs to pay bills and attending school full time. With much responsibility, I am doing my absolute best to surpass any circumstances and aim towards my success. I plan on getting my masters as well! Do to my academic plans, I really need a computer. I am asking for 1300 because I think a light weight Mac would be ideal, easy to carry and easy to fit in my backpack. Any amount of donation big or small really helps and I am extremely grateful for anything. Thank you so much.
