For the past ten years I have been a volunteer Board member of Hospice of the Good Shepherd. They provided care and relief for my father in the last six months of his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2001. The State of Massachusetts has asked the Hospice for help in administering care specifically for children through the Pedi-Pal program. This program will run at a deficit for the Hospice yet will provide much needed help.
On April 15th, I will be running the Boston Marathon to raise money and awareness for the Circle of Caring at Hospice of the Good Shepherd’s Pedi-Pal Program. The Pedi-Pal program is available at no cost to a family with a child 18 years or younger with a life-limiting illness. The Pedi-Pal program improves the quality of life for the entire family with our supportive network of specially trained nurses, social workers, child life specialists, music therapist volunteers, spiritual care and integrative therapy practitioners. The Pedi-Pal program is unique and funds raised will make a meaningful difference to a sick child and his/her family.
