BENEFITING: MINNESOTA RECOVERY CONNECTION
EVENT: MRC's 2014 Walk for Recovery
EVENT DATE: Sep 20, 2014
My name is Monique Bourgeois and I am an ally for the recovery community.
What that means for me is that I am: 1) a family member of individuals in long-term recovery from drug/alcohol addiction and 2) a professional that has worked in the drug/alcohol addiction field for over 19 years. I am passionate about helping individuals initiate or maintain their recovery in whatever way works for them.
For the past 3.5 years, I have worked for Minnesota Recovery Connection (MRC) as the Volunteer/Training Manager. The mission of MRC is to strengthen the recovery community through peer-to-peer support, public education and advocacy.
Every day, I get to see the mission of MRC at work. Volunteers in recovery provide peer support that strengthens individual's recovery, which in turn strengthens our whole community. 71% of individuals that participate in peer support through MRC remain abstinent and 21% reduce their use. THAT is amazing! Monthly, we provide opportunities for the recovery community to participate in educational workshops and activities that strengthen their recovery. Every day at MRC, we show individuals, families and communities that RECOVERY WORKS. By bringing visibility to recovery and the recovery community it highlights that RECOVERY IS POSSIBLE!!!
Every dollar donated will support MRC in carrying out its mission.
