When my uncle died in 2007, he left behind four children, a wife and no money. Ranging in ages from 23(Sara), Emanuel 21, Neema 13, and Samuel 7. Luckily, Sara the oldest child now at 23 was able to get a college scholarship to University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania our native country where the whole family, except me lives. With money being an issue and since scholarships aren’t guaranteed for the remaining three children. I set out to create Stepping Stone because I wanted to establish a foundation that would provide ongoing financial support for their mother and towards their education-something that has always been close to my uncles’ heart. With your gracious donations, I hope that one day Stepping Stones will have an income stream that will continue to support both their mother and fathers mission perpetuity.
Your donations will go towards food, shelter, transportation to and from school, clothes, medicine, hospital visits, beds, mosquito nets and other amenities such as solar lanterns.
Without reliable access to electricity at affordable prices, many students like my cousins are forced to use unhealthy and unsafe lighting alternatives. While doing homework, they use kerosene lanterns or candles for lighting which produces poor quality light, has unsafe open flames that cause fires, and with kerosene price fluctuations, they are not affordable. With your donations, among other things I plan on purchasing solar lanterns for them so they can apply themselves to their studies in comfort. With your help, I want to bring light into their world, where its use can make such a profound positive impact for the rest of their lives.
