Stepping Stone for Physician Assistant School
Organized by: Lissette DeLeon
EVENT DATE Aug 25, 2016
Hi Everyone, My name is Lissette DeLeon, and I am a senior at Mount Holyoke College majoring in Biology. This is a huge year for me because I will be the first in my family to graduate from college. I do not want my education to stop there though, I ultimately want to become a Physician Assistant (PA), and that requires a lot of time, passion, more education, and of course obstacles. My obstacle will be finding the money to get me there.
You may ask, why do you want to become a PA? Well because I grew up in hospitals. I have been diabetic for 16 years, so I have become very familiar with health professions and hospitals. I have always been on the patient side. This time, I want to be on the professional side. I have became passionate about medicine, and because it has been such a huge part of my life, I want to contribute, be the healer, and help others. Becoming a PA will be very rewarding, but I have to get there first.
Before even being considered for admission into these competitive PA programs, I still need to take some pre-requisite classes and get certified to interact with patients. Since I am graduating this year, I want to start working on these requirements right away. My next steps will be to become certified in phlebotomy, work for a while to gain patient care experience, and this will help to pay for the rest of my pre-requisite classes.
In order to achieve this, I need the help. To become certified for phlebotomy I need to find over $1,000 to pay for it. I do not know about you, but I know I do not have that money sitting there. It is discouraging when your dreams are so big, but money is always required to get ahead. One thing that someone should know about me, is that I am persistent and will find ways to achieve my goals.
I am asking for your help, whether it is donating (any amount will be appreciated), or sharing this post. Becoming a PA is what I am passionate about. I do not see myself doing anything else.
All donations will be used only for the phlebotomy course, which is a goal that I need accomplish before I accomplish the ultimate one.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at email@example.com
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. It is highly appreciated.
Best, Lissette DeLeon
