April 16, 2017
BENEFITING: Brigham and Women's Hospital
ORGANIZER: Brigham and Women's Hospital
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
Do you remember the widespread panic that Boston Marathon bombing caused? Uncertainty looms on all of us, be it a terrorist attack, political protest or personal life events. These events always leave traces of Trauma. I have seen first hand how trauma changed the lives of some of my family members. My grandfather, now 92 years old, survived 3 of such tragic events. Its been years, but he's is still reeling from the shock of losing his loved ones.
Trauma is leading cause of death for people ages 1-46 in the United States, however, funding for trauma research and care is scarce. The 2017 BWH Stepping Strong Marathon Team will advance BWH’s commitment to turn tragedy into hope for citizens, military personnel, and families worldwide who have been impacted by the devastation of traumatic injuries and events.
That is why on 17th April, I plan to run the Boston Marathon to raise funds for Brigham Women’s Hospital(BWH). In April 2013, when the Boston Marathon bombing took place, BWH doctors and nurses heroically saved 39 individuals with life-threatening injuries.
I need your support to reach my fundraising goal of $5000. I am counting on your support to not only finish the race but also to help the Stepping Strong Center achieve its goal of transforming trauma care. You can learn more about the center at BWHsteppingstrong.org.
