-March 18: Shamrock Run 8k (Portland)
Cool morning along the waterfront. Enjoyed the beautiful cityscape walking across the Morrison bridge this morning. Arrived in time to check-in and head to the line. 30,000+ in attendance. Great energy in the air. Love the feeling of being released by the gun. Enjoyed a battle during the middle miles with a Central Catholic boy. Finished 14th in 26 and change. Thank you Lord. Blessed morning of worship and praise with the body, mind, and spirit, and soul.
-March 28: Canby All-comers meet 5k
Windy and rainy afternoon at the track that Millbrooke built. Enjoyed serving the athletes during the meet by sweeping water off the track. Thank you Lord for that service opportunity. Also had a chance to help time the races and re-connect with old friends (#JoelSauvain#KellenPeters). Great group for the 3k/5k. Got a little excited at the start...1st mile solid, though, in 5 flat. 16:12 at the finish. Appreciated the support of all the athletes as well as my parents and John Champ. Blessed afternoon at the track. Thank you Lord.
-April 14: Pear Blossom Run 10 miler (Medford)
3rd year running the Pear and another beautiful day. What a blessing. Wearing bib number 1930 in honor of grandpa's year of birth. So appreciated the support of family and friends. Finished 10th in 57 minutes+. Learned some great lessons during the race...receive what the Lord has for me, don't try to take. Just as I must receive the sacrifice of Christ on the cross by surrendering my will and receiving His forgiveness, so I will surrender my efforts and receive His wonderful plan for my running. Use it for your glory, whatever that looks like. Congrats to Uncle Jeff and Aunt Jayne and all other finishers of the 10-mile. Special thanks to my parents for driving down and looking after me as always.
-June 2: Timberline Half-Marathon (Timothy Lake)
Race was great...thanks to those who supported me. Thank you God most of all. All glory to Him. Learned some great lessons out there on the trails. For the first time ever I was able to completely disregard time and place and just run out of thanksgiving. For me, this is one of the biggest miracles ever. The Lord has brought me out of a past of competitiveness and stubbornness to one of submission, peace, and thanksgiving. What a blessing! Loved the lake trails and views. Cloudy morning but cools temps were perfect for running. Great support along the trails with the aid stations and so great to have some food at the end. Special thanks to dad for driving me up there and back and treating me to lunch at Calamity Jane's.
-June 23: Pacific Crest Marathon (Sunriver)
Final race. Morning of marathon cold and wet. About 10 minutes before race started, the rain stopped and the clouds parted. Thank you Lord for the day that was given. Your mercies are new every morning. First half of marathon was a struggle. Continuing reminder to be not of myself, but of him who is in me. Committed to myself that I would use what was given to me for the day and be thankful. The Lord surprised me, out of his good pleasure, and gave me much strength and endurance the second half of the race. Finished the last half 10 minutes faster than the first half. Total time of 3:12 and fourth place. Great food afterward. A much needed hot tub - A special thanks to Aunt Jayne for hospitality on all fronts - a quick nap, and then back in the car and headed home. This concludes my fundraiser for Hall Steps. May God use these funds to bless children in need that they may grow into a knowledge of Him and praise His name. "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven." AMEN.
