The Steps for Soldiers Charity Hike is a special event to raise money and awareness for veterans by accomplishing the gruelling Rim-to-Rim hike at the Grand Canyon...hiking from the North Rim to the South Rim in one day (September 20th, 2015)...23 miles across and 11,000ft of elevation change!
Our goal - with your support - is to raise $40,000 for Team Red White and Blue (aka Team RWB - an amazing organization helping veterans who have left active service to acclimate back into their communities.

Team Long Island began several months ago with the realization that our group of three friends (Sheila, Phyllis and Jenni) wanted to do something challenging at a point in our lives when our collective eight children have all left the nest. Sheila’s brother, Paul, gave us the perfect opportunity as a facilitator for the Grand Canyon Steps for Soldiers Walk.
On September 20th we will join twenty-five fellow hikers, setting out from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to its South Rim - a distance of 23 miles and an 11,000ft elevation change. Our preparation consists of strength training and regular hikes through the hilly North Shore of Long Island. Our training together has not only improved our fitness, we have also come to realize that being together during periods of transition provides a tremendous amount of camaraderie and a forum to discuss our next steps and goals.
Supporting a veteran’s organization has added personal meaning to each of us as many of our family members, including Phyllis’ and Sheila’s fathers, have served proudly and honorably in the United States military.
Please join us in supporting our veterans by donating to Team Red White and Blue through our team, Team Long Island. Your donation will contribute to their important mission of assisting our veterans transition back into their family and community lives.
Thank you for your support,
