In November 2011 the first phase of the Sterling Tiger Trail was completed. This included a quarter mile long asphalt trail with a welcome plaza in between Bon Secours St. Francis hospital and the historic Sterling Community Center. The area was by all intents and purposes, a landfill, riddled with trash and kudzu on all sides. This major gateway into the community had seen better days and because of the work we and our partners have done since 2008, the area is now clear, both the hospital community and the Sterling community can see each other. Greenville can now see US! We are no longer hidden, forgetten, or bet against. This trail shows what we can do when we build new relationships, think out of the box, and do the work to make the ideas a reality.
All the plans and resources are in place to continue the trail across the creek to provide access to the Sterling Community Center. Within this plan there is a bridge and handicap accessible amphitheater for community wide events. A bold idea that will link health, recreation, and community pride together.
All that's left to do is raise the money! We now need YOUR help!
