BENEFITING: Stern Center for Language & Learning
ORGANIZER: Stern Center for Language & Learning
EVENT: Mad Marathon 2013
EVENT DATE: Jul 07, 2013
On July 7, 2013, I will be running in the 3rd Annual Mad Marathon to support the Stern Center for Language and Learning. By sponsoring me, you will be helping many learners who receive assistance at the Stern Center. This nonprofit organization, with locations in Vermont and New Hampshire, helps children and adults who learn differently, including those experiencing language delays,
learning disabilities like dyslexia, and social communication challenges.
Your contribution toward my goal of $250 supports the Stern Center’s Scholarship Fund (none goes to supporting the race organization) and will make a huge impact on the hundreds of students who benefit from this fund annually.
The Stern Center is a nonprofit and depends on generous people like yourself to continue its support of struggling learners. The Stern Center’s Scholarship Fund is critical to individuals who otherwise would not receive the support they need.

The following story illustrates the impact of our work:
As both his legal guardian and his educational advocate…my belief that without this intervention he would not have the credits necessary to graduate nor the skill set to pursue a vocation to help him transition successfully to adulthood...After 5 years of academic failure, he could finally attend both his therapeutic day program and Stern Center to have both his learning disabilities and his emotional challenges addressed.
Of significant benefit to not only us as his guardians but also to his clinical treatment team was the documentation provided by the Stern Center that allowed us to track his daily progress. When there was difficulty we knew it and could appropriately respond. When there were successes they too were shared and reinforced. Our nephew gained self confidence in himself not only thanks to improvements academically but through the respect and encouragement given to him for his strengths artistically and athletically.
The Stern Center is where he has achieved great success; it is where he gained a stronger foundation on which to begin his transition to adulthood.
