EVENT: Run Ranger Run IV
EVENT DATE: Feb 01, 2016
Mileage Tracker: 12
Some of us at the 183d Civil Engineering Squadron in Springfield, IL have decided to participate in a fundraiser called RUN RANGER RUN.
The purpose: To raise awareness and money that will go to support military veterans as they face the unique challenges of transitioning from military life to the civilian world. As we know, many come home from serving overseas with challenges like PTSD, financial issues, family problems, lack of job prospects, depression, alcoholism, and many more. The more we shine the spotlight on these dark areas, the better equipped are those who help these heroes combat these invisible but very real demons.
The goal: Starting February 1, each team (10 people) will run, walk, or bike a total of 565 miles over the course of 29 days to raise awareness of the plight these veterans face every day. Homelessness, divorce, mental illness, and suicide are just some of the issues our vets confront. Our team (Over-Engineered) will run as a reminder to ourselves and as a tribute to our brothers- and sisters-in-arms who struggle against seemingly insurmountable odds. But by sticking together and supporting the people doing the work in the trenches for those who have lived in the trenches, we will win this battle.
For the month of Febrary, our motto will be: RUN RANGER RUN!
Please join me in supporting these courageous men and women by sponsoring me as I run my share of the mileage (57miles) during the month of February. Every dollar helps.
I have set the goal of raising $500 for this worthy cause. Please consider donating as a way of saying "thank you" to any veteran you know who has pledged his or her life as a means of protecting the freedoms we all enjoy.
Thank you and may we all support them here at home just as they have supported us abroad.
