St. Frances of Rome, Bronx, NY, (SFR) is the parish where I was raised and educated. SFR is located in the Wakefield section of the northeast Bronx. My graduating class had about 120 students and only three classes. For the most part, our teachers were Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. My brothers and I received a phenomenal education which is still being used today! Today the school has been closed due to lack of enrollment and three parishes (SFR, St. Anthony's and St. Fracis of Assissi have been consolidated into one parish with only two priests.
The school building is still a vital part of the parish facilities and is used by both senior citizens and students. The senior host their weekly meetings there and the students use the school for religious education.
The roof is in major need of repair and it's estimated that it would cost about $150,000 to repair it.
Please consider donating to St. Frances of Rome parish. I guarantee that 100% of your contribution will be used to support the vital community.
Thank you for your consideration and please let me know if you'll be watching the marathon. I'll look for you!
