THE STORY:
I'm running the St. George Marathon on Oct 2 to raise money for Holding Out HELP: an organization that supports boys and women/children who have been exiled or have escaped from polygamous communities.
Check out the website for Holding Out HELP here:www.holdingouthelp.org
"HELP provides services to those individuals leaving polygamy. They offers food, clothing, shelter, counseling, job training and education. These services are offered through a network of volunteers, state agencies and individual donors. Ultimately, they strive to increase self-sufficiency and the dignity that everyone deserves."
and the film trailer for Sons of Perdition introduces the cause well:

After reading many accounts of women and children who have escaped or been exiled from the polygamous communities of the FLDS in Utah and Arizona, and most recently after seeing the film Sons of Perdition, I"d like to raise money to help these kids and women make it in the outside world. They typically have been denied an education and little money and have suffered through countless abuse either in their family or community.
My great great grandmother escaped polygamy with her 3 children in the 1890s. The book Tell it all, a Woman's Life in Polygamy was written by her half-mother- my great great greatgrandfather's wife. You can still buy it on amazon- it's quite revealing and full of sadness.
Thank you for your support!
All the best,
Paige
