The Baltimore Student Harm Reduction Coalition (BSHRC) is a grassroots volunteer organization, working to end the "War on Drugs," prevent overdose deaths, educate young professionals, and advocate for evidence-based public policies. Since 2011, we have provided education, advocacy, and service in the Baltimore area. Our vision is a world where harm reduction is a fundamental principle in improving health.
Harm reduction refers to a set of practical strategies that address drug use, sex work, and other conditions that may lead to harmful health consequences. These strategies come from a place of non-judgment that seek to "meet people where they are" and celebrate their victories towards self-defined goals.
We have provided harm reduction-related training to students and staff at universities as well as community organizations throughout the area, including 800 individuals trained to use naloxone to reverse an opioid overdose and 7 reported overdose reversals.
We are currently developing new educational trainings on safer alcohol consumption, drug use, sexual consent, and reproductive rights. With your support, we can provide these essential health and safety trainings to community members starting in 2016.
Help us improve the health and well-being of Baltimore City and beyond!
