12 Planes CAF Units wrote -This unique aircraft, though small, played a larger roll on the home front during WWII with the Civil Air Patrol. Civilian soldiers came to the aid of the country to help patrol the coast lines of Atlantic seaboard and the Gulf of Mexico. The small yet agile aircraft carried a 3 person crew (1 Pilot and two Observers) acting as spotter aircraft looking for German U-Boats lurking in the waters. If such an enemy was spotted, the small plane carried one 100 pound bomb underneath the fuselage. To the surprise of many, the Stinson 10A has two U-Boat confirmed kills using its payload. The Mississippi Wing's Stinson 10A you see here served at Coastal Base Patrol 1: Atlantic City, New Jersey as a courier service aircraft to provide vital parts to other aircraft to keep them flying. After a 10year full restoration, this particular Stinson is having trouble keeping her engine running smooth and without problems. From chasing oil leaks to a recent cracked cylinder, she is in need of support to help her patrol the skies once again to educate the vital roll of the Civilian Soldier during WWII.
