STMA Cheerleading Trip to Orlando
Organized by: Scott Wallace
It is with much excitement that I share with you that the STMA Varsity Competitive Cheer Team just earned a bid to attend the National High School Cheerleading Championships in Orlando Florida on February 6th and 7th, 2016. This is the biggest and most prestigious event in High School Competitive Cheerleading. Achieving this goal has been a work in process for the past couple years and it has finally been achieved. The team of 14 St. Michael – Albertville students are in 8-12th grade and have been working together this year since June. Many have been members on the team for the past 2-4 years and it has been one of their largest dreams to attend this event. Being a member of the team is definitely a huge time commitment, but they do it because of their love of the sport and each other. It is because of this, achievements like this are possible.
Anytime something of this caliber is achieved, and at that, the first time in history for the STMA School District and Community, it is a challenge to come up with the funding to attend. The team is already hosting a cheerleading event on December 19th at the High School to raise a large portion of it, but not all families have the finances to cover the remainder. With it being our first time hosting we are unsure of exact profits, but anticipate about half of the trip being covered if not more. The trip will cost about $1100 per team member to attend and represent our community on the big blue mat. We are hoping that you may be able to help the team with a financial donation to help ease the expenses for those in financial need. The team will also be looking into doing additional fundraisers to help cover the costs, but time is limited at this time as well.
