BENEFITING: STOMP THE MONSTER INC
ORGANIZER: STOMP THE MONSTER INC
I began running - for exercise and in races - in 2008. The very first race in which I ever participated was the Big Chill 5K at Rutgers University in December 2008. My sister, Jill (a/k/a "Wilma") signed me up to run with her. For Wilma, an accomplished marathoner the 5K distance was a walk in the park. Me? I thought I was going to die.
In the decade since, I have run in too many races of too many different distances to count. At age 50, I have decided that 2017 shall be my last year tackling marathons. I can think of no greater way for me to bid this distance farewell then to run New York City for the third and final time - and to do it as part of Team Stomp The Monster.
I shall run this year - as I did last year - for those I love whose war against cancer is now over, including my mother-in-law, Sue Bozzomo, and my brother-in-law, Glenn Hubner, and for those I love whose war against cancer rages still. Those who battle as fiercely as William Wallace's "warrior poets", including my mother, the indomitable Joanie K, and my sister, Wilma.
If you are able to assist in this effort by making a donation - and you are moved to do so - then please know that my appreciation for what you do far exceeds my skills at adequate expression. If you are not so well-positioned financially, please know that every good thought - for me, for those fighting the fight against cancer, and for Stomp the Monster, which supports them in their effort, is sincerely appreciated.
