Stonewall Youth is an organization of youth, activists, and allies that empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQQIA) youth to speak for themselves, educate their communities, and support each other.
Stonewall Youth envisions a community in which all queer, gender variant, and gender non-conforming youth have a full spectrum of choices regarding their bodies, self-expression, and legal rights.
Social Justice – Social Justice is a process, not an outcome, which (1) seeks fair (re)distribution of resources, opportunities, and responsibilities; (2) challenges the roots of oppression and injustice; (3) empowers all people to exercise self-determination and realize their full potential; and (4) builds social solidarity and community capacity for collaborative action.*
Learning – We are committed to building an environment of growth, mentorship, and learning.
Sassiness – We are full of fun, confidence, self-love, friendship, and jauntiness.
Inclusion – We strive to go beyond acceptance to full inclusion of all LGBTQQIA youth in all aspects of our organization.
Compassion – We reach out to individuals who are struggling.
Family – We choose to be part of a family that embodies safety, trust, and friendship.
Self-Care – In order to accomplish our mission, we need to take care of ourselves because we are the movement.
What do we do at Stonewall Youth?
* We offer a confidential safe space for queer and questioning youth by hosting regular support group meetings and a place to find supportive friends.
* We are dedicated to educating ourselves and our community through our Speakers Bureau and annual events such as Gay Camp, and Stonewall Activism Summer School (SASS). We also maintain a library and resource center for youth to access information about LGBTQQIA issues.
* We have opportunities for creative expression including our Annual Drag Show and programs such as Queer Art Heals Your Heart.
