The city I live in, Saskatoon, SK, has high incidents of drunk driving. Even worse it has high rates of drunk driving related deaths. In 2009 alone there were 8.4 impairment-related crash deaths per 100,000 in Saskatchewan (compared to 5.7 in next-door Alberta, the second worst in the country)
According to Madd, since then Saskatchewan has not enacted any significant initiatives to curb impaired driving.
Some friends and I are trying to change that. We set up a service to deliver alcohol to house parties and events, so people who are tipsy and running low on drinks aren't tempted to get behind the wheel to go to the offsale store for more.
We've also created coupon sheets that offer discounts off cab fare for when people are leaving the party - coupons that will be handed out with every delivery.
As our drivers are doing this full-time we're seeking funds to pay for fuel, information campaigns, and the cost of printing the coupons.
