EVENT DATE Apr 03, 2014
The Stop Mass Incarceration Network is holding a national strategizing meeting in New York City on April 3 & 4 to organize for a Month of Resistance to Mass Incarceration in October proposed by Carl Dix and Cornel West. People from many different backgrounds and from all over the country need to be part of this meeting. We urgently need to raise funds to ensure that people are able to get to NYC to be part of this meeting.
Youth under the gun of the New Jim Crow, family members of those incarcerated or murdered by the police, formerly incarcerated folks, students and professors, artists, attorneys, religious leaders and everyone who sees the tremendous outrage of mass incarceration and is determined to be part of ending it needs to be in the house and contributing their thinking and ideas to ensure this Month of Resistance to Mass Incarceration has a major impact on society.
Please donate what you can to provide the means to travel to NYC for those of us who do not have the funds to get there. We must build a national mass movement to end the slow genocide of mass incarceration and police brutality, and in order to do that we need to have determined folks from across the country at this strategizing meeting. Your donation can make that possible.
The activists of Greensboro have banded together on this cause and would like to attend this national organizing meeting to share our experiences of organizing in our communities, learn from people who are doing this work in cities across the US, and build a powerful, national movement to stop these outrages. Please give what you can, and inspire others to give too!
