BENEFITING: LUPUS RESEARCH ALLIANCE
EVENT DATE: Jun 10, 2015
Systemic Lupus Erythematosis (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that incites the human immune system to attack a patient's body, causing painful rashes, hair loss, bone and tissue inflammation, organ and renal failure, and amongst other things, death. The latin word for wolf, lupus hunts its victims flesh ruthlessly, inciting relentless violence throughout its victims members. Maybe someday people will not have to endure the wolf, but not without funding for research. Not without awareness. Not without help from people like you and me.
So I’m killing two birds with one stone. I’m going to grow my hair for 18 months during which time people can submit guesses on its final length, donating money to this cause. The closest guess will receive a prize of one freshly composed song, a wicked awesome painting in colors of their choosing, and/or other prizes I will cook up in the next 18 months. In June of 2015 I will shave my head in solidarity with those who suffer from hair loss for reasons out of their hands, whether it be chemotherapy, burns, alopecia, or other illnesses such as lupus. I will donating all the hair I've shaved to Children with Hair Loss, a US based charity that provides wigs and wig care kits to children at no cost to families. I will donate all money earned during this campaign to the Alliance for Lupus research so that maybe someday the terror of the wolf will end.
