BENEFITING: STORY PROJECT
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2011
For the third year, The Story Project, a local non profit, with branches in Austin Texas and Maryland, has been selected as an official charity of the Honda Los Angeles Marathon. We are looking for members to join our team to run on Sunday, March 20th, 2011. The Story Project is a a youth empowerment foundation with the mission of supporting at-risk kids during the journey of finding their own voice. Through our five program areas; music, art, writing, performing arts and cultural excursions, students learn to express themselves in a positive manner furthering literacy, education and self-expression.
Statistically, one-third of Los Angeles high school students are classified as drop-outs. Across the country this number is just as staggering leaving teens ill-prepared for a safe and productive future. Running with TSP is your chance to help raise money for our organization which directly impacts the above statistics while completing 26.2 miles, a challenge you will remember for the rest of your lives.
Besides the the assorted goodies associated with being a team member, the one whose fund-raising campaign generates the most over $300 wins an iPad.
So what are you waiting for? Join now by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org then use our official pledge page to get started. Suddenly you're committed to furthering your personal fitness, joining the elite few in the world who will ever participate in a marathon, and the chance to impact a student's life by providing the necessary tools and path to their own, personal Happily Ever After.
Remember, there's nothing more powerful than a good story and it's our goal to further communication in kids while promoting creativity, literacy, self confidence, critical thinking and the myriad of other benefits that come through Story Project programs.
