"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
A parent's most difficult decision. When do we intervene to secure our child's future? To what extreme do we go to ensure that our children will ultimately be poised to achieve based upon their potential? There are many challenges to raising children in our current time. There is more pressure that I can certainly remember growing up. The sheer amount of influence amongst peers, society and a strong desire to fit in creates a crossroads for every young person. Some are stronger than others and not as easily influenced.
So the real question is how do you keep it all together while making sure your children all have the same opportunity to succeed. I think the answer lies in each child individually.
Every child is an individual and therefore responds/reacts to situations and environments differently. We have certainly seen that with our oldest son. He seems so much more susceptible to peer and worldly influences than most. So much that we felt it necessary to take drastic measures. Being a family of 6 it's hard to just sell your home and move to a remote area to segregate yourself from society and home school. So what is the next best solution?
Our decision was to look at Military based boarding schools. We found one in Virginia called Fork Union Military Academy. They are a Christian based Military Boarding school. We knew Cade's best possible course was to remove him from the distractions as we had no control of his environment when he was at school or not at home.
Needless to say private boarding schools are not cheap. We have talked to numerous parents who have been an encouragement with this difficult decision in making the hard choice now for his future. We've talked with parents who have spoken with regret that they hadn't acted sooner for their own children always thinking that things would get better for their child. So we are looking for help to secure Cade's future and to help lessen the financial burden. For anyone who is able and willing to assist we thank you with gracious hearts. We will be praying for His blessing on this process, Cade and anyone who can assist no matter how small whether it be financially, words of encouragement or prayer.
