BENEFITING: STRATEGIC WATER TEAMS CORPORATION
85% of all hand pumps in Haiti are broken. When they do work, the water from the wells can be laden with harmful bacteria that initiate water-borne diseases like dysentery. When used as drinking water, babies and toddlers often become painfully sick with terrible symptoms including diarrhea and dehydration, leading to high death rates in the third world. Strategic Water Teams (SWT) aims to replace the bad drinking water with good, clean, purified water.
SWT donates equipment, supplies, training, and support to local leaders of schools, churches, and community groups. The leaders of each local entity in Haiti then take charge of the water purification responsibilities with support from SWT. Most pure water stations are offered to the local public nearby, providing thousands of people with bacteria-free water! No government agency, U.N. agency, or others come between SWT and the People of Haiti.
The average cost to repair a hand pump is $350, and a new water purification system costs $1500. Volunteers from the SWT travel on their own expense to Haiti several times per year to provide the supplies, training, and support. Find out more at www.strategicwaterteams.com
Your donation will be used directly to fund the purchase of pumps, repair equipment, tools, supplies, and water purification systems. Travel expenses are incurred by each SWT team member. We accept new team members as well. Find out more at the website strategicwaterteams.com
