My name is Leland Palmer and my wife, Sue, and I are in the process of building and opening a long term care facility for returning veterans with post traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse and light case traumatic brain injury here in central Louisiana on our property. Sue is a Licensed Addiction Counselor/Licensed Professional Counselor and I am a former US Army Medical Service Corps Officer and currently work at the local VA hospital. We believe that God has given us the vision for the Streams of Healing Warrior Recovery Center, Inc. (a 501c3 corporation) and is in the process of revealing and providing for it in His Will and perfect timing. We hope to be treating, housing and rehabilitating and training up to 48 veterans at a time here on our property. It is a 43 acre tract of mixed hardwood, pine with a sandy spring fed stream that runs below where the main building will be situated. Our vision for the grounds includes walking trails and scenic areas for men to rebuild, regroup, and rejoin their families, jobs and society after their stay here.

Phase 1 is to buy the other interests in the land so that we can begin building the permenant structures and start hiring staff to work with the guys who come here for help.  We already have a pasture growing (for the cows, horses, and a llama named Dolly).  Sue is working on her certification for Equine Therapy for Groups.  (Dolly will be there for crowd control and herd protection.....)  A pond site has been cleared for fishing with family/kids.  Also, a trailer is now on site to provide a group room and extra housing.

Phase 2 will begin the grant/donation processes to build the main building where the guys will eat and have group as well as the first 28 man housing unit.  We hope to start building the Aquaponic Greenhouse/garden funding allowed in Phase 2.

Phase 3 will be the building of a second housing unit for a total of 48 clients as well as a multipurpose building with computer labs, extra offices for counseling, gym and a pool/basketball court for recreation, therapy and fun.
