For over ten years I have personally provided funds to help working families in and near poverty. I recently retired and formed Street Angel INC. with the hope that it will meet the needs of some of the working poor in the Atlanta Metropolitan area. Street Angel serves the most vulnerable regardless of age, race, gender or faith. The working poor are a diverse range of people: single parents, couples with and without children, young adults with college degrees, seniors and everyone in between. Their financial situations, however, show many similarities; their jobs generally provide them with less than the means to scrape by and charitable subsidies keep them afloat while deciding which necessity to forfeit to survive. Others are entirely out of work, tirelessly seeking employment and relying on other desperate means to survive. Our efforts focus on a collection of core areas that we believe can make a difference in the lives of the working poor. We assist working families in and near poverty by: • Providing short term housing subsidies to help families avoid homelessness • Providing short term help to pay for utilities, groceries and kids’ needs • Assisting with medical care costs • Providing help for transportation, including car repairs or free rides to keep employment Currently, we have five families in dire need of support and the list continues to grow. Our goal is to raise $7,000 by the end of July. Please help us assist the families by contributing today.
