What Would YOU Do With a Trillion Dollars?
In fall 2011, five Chicago middle school students came to Street-Level Youth Media to learn how to make movies. They learned how to operate HD video cameras, boom microphones, and hand-held recorders.
They also learned to speak out on the federal budget and to consider the $1 trillion spent on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, compared to the budget cuts in their own schools and communities.
Street-Level is thrilled to announce that these youth were selected for the second annual If I Had a Trillion Dollars Film Festival.
Thirty-four entries were judged by a panel of four, including actress and activist Susan Sarandon and rapper-activist Rhyme Fest.
The festival culminates April 14-16, 2012 in Washington, DC, where the festival sponsors will hold a free screening at Busboys and Poets, a youth leadership conference, and a film screening for members of Congress.
