BENEFITING: TOMORROWS CHILDRENS FUND INC
Team Sylvie is a group of folks of all abilities who are competing in events all over the world in memory of our beloved daughter, Sylvie Hughes, who passed away on November 29, 2009.
Hundreds of Strides for Sylvie runners and walkers crossed the finish line at the annual Ridgewood Run in 2009 and 2010 raising over $45,000 for the Tomorrows Children's Fund at Hackensack University Medical Center.
This year we are letting team Strides For Sylvie loose all over the globe. We've received worldwide heartfelt condolences and outreach from friends, family, former co-workers, total strangers and scores of people whose lives Sylvie enriched. So whether you live in Ridgewood, New Jersey or Katmandu, we would love if the next time you ran, walked, potato-sacked, or three legged hopped across a finish line, that you ran it for Sylvie and helped raise funds for the Tomorrows Children's Fund. Sun salutation yogathons at your favorite yoga studio are also welcomed!
CROWDRISE MAKES IT PERFECTLY SIMPLE FOR YOU TO RAISE MONEY AND TAKES THE PAIN IN THE BUTTNESS OUT OF FILLING OUT FUNDRAISING FORMS & COLLECTING CHECKS. IT'S SO EASY THAT EVEN OUR MOM'S CAN DO IT!
Sylvie Hughes was a three and a half-year old Ridgewood resident who was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer on 2/11/09 and was treated successfully by the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at the Tomorrows Children's Institute for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Hackensack University Medical Center. Sylvie made a full recovery and was back to her normal toddler activities and preschool by 9/09. She regained her strength, confidence and wit. So did her family. On 11/29/09, Sylvie suddenly passed away.
Strides For Sylvie launched in 2009 at the Ridgewood Run which takes place each Memorial Day and is one of the biggest nationally recognized community runs in the country. In 2009, Sylvie made a guest appearance and cheered on over 100 friends and family who ran in her honor and raised more than $15,000 for the Tomorrows Children's Fund at Hackensack University Medical Center where she was being treated. Last year's race was sadly in her memory. Nearly 200 folks ran wearing Strides For Sylvie shirts and raised $30,000 for TCF.
