BENEFITING: CHILDREN'S HEMIPLEGIA AND STROKE ASSN.
Three time Stroke Survivor from birth delivery. Official medical Term: Right Frontal Infarct. A term never heard of until one day it becomes your life. When you are in the moment and the happiest moment of your life, welcoming your newborn into the world turns into.. What did you just say Dr? Stroke? All the Who, What, Where, When and definately the Why start to flood your thoughts. You take a deep breathe, pray and take one step on the journey to providing the best possibly life you can for your child. You step out of the poor me, and focus strictly on what do I do and no one has the answers you are looking for. The day comes when you connect with someone else who has a similar situation and you exchange what works and doesn't work. The information you obtain accumulates and you tag team with others to better the lives of our children and hopefully helping the community and teachers, and Doctors, Therapists, specialists etc. that you come in contact with, try and understand the challenges your child / student is experiencing on a daily basis and doesn't know how to communicate to the average students and community around the child. How does a child / student who is going through a tramatic brain injury communicate, when the area that normally communicates suddenly is damaged and all they know to do is cry, withdraw and be quiet. Pediatric Stroke needs more Awareness just as Important as Cancer, Alzeimers, MDS and many many other diseases. There is no cure for Stroke. The brain is damaged. Education comes in prevention and understanding within the community. Kearstyn is doing her part to bring attention to this serious disease she experienced and is living to this day. Help her help others by supporting CHASA.org. Please visit hemichildkearstyn.blogspot.com to learn more about Kearstyn and thank you for supporting the Pediatric Stroke Community and Families.
