BENEFITING: REFUGE FOR SAVING THE WILDLIFE
EVENT DATE: Sep 19, 2015
The Refuge for Saving the Wildlife, Incorporated is hosting a memorial walk for one of our permanent residents, Sigh, a Moluccan Cockatoo, who has recently gone on to the Rainbow Bridge. Sigh came to the refuge in early 2000 when he was in his mid-20’s. He was featherless, fearful and unable to move very well. After years of medicines, therapies and love, Sigh became a very trusting, loving and active bird until his untimely death in 2015.
Come celebrate his life and help raise public awareness about rescued birds and much needed funds to help the brothers and sisters Sigh has left to fill the void from his passing. Sigh will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The walk will be on Saturday, September 19, 2015 starting at 9:00 am. It begins at Park and Green Bay Rd. parking lot, in Glencoe. We will walk through Glencoe and Winnetka for approximately 5 miles. Walk with us: get donors, donate, or just come cheer us on and meet some of the staff and residents. There will be many of Sigh’s feathered friends in the walk assisting to get the word out about the rescue and our mission.
For donors raising $25 or more, there will be a one of a kind, stylish t-shirt commemorating the “Struttin’ for Sigh” memorial walk.
