BENEFITING: FAMILY DOGS NEW LIFE SHELTER
EVENT DATE: Sep 13, 2014
Every year since it started in Portland, Oregon I have been on the planning committee and raised money for Strut Your Mutt. I have worked with rescue dogs for years and appreciate the impact Best Friends has nationally and that it supports local dog rescue organizations.
I also always raise the money in memory of my soul dog Kenji who I lost on August 8th, 2011. He was one of my anchors and I miss him very much. He died of cancer while I was working on the first Strut Your Mutt in Portland, and it motivated me even that much more to raise money for all of the dogs that need a home. He had a wonderful home and family that loved him up until the second we lost him. Every dog deserves the same and that is why I put so much effort into this every year.
Together, we can save the lives of homeless pets. Every day, more than 9,000 pets are killed in America's shelters simply because they don't have a home. Each one an individual. Each one a valued life worth saving. 9,000. That number should be zero. And it can be.
Best Friends Animal Society and local animal welfare organizations and shelters (No More Homeless Pets "Network partners"), are joining together to bring that number to zero. I am participating in Strut Your Mutt to raise money that will go directly back into my community to be used to fund adoption programs and spay/neuter services, ultimately impacting the number of pets entering and leaving the shelters. The local organization I am raising monyey for is Family Dogs New Life Shelter in Portland OR.
Together we can Save Them All.
Thank you - Mindy and Kenji
