Each year we rely on our students, parents, alumnae and friends to provide financial support and help us provide the best possible education to our girls.
- D.A. has been ranked the number six best all girls, Catholic school in New York according to Niche rankings. In addition, we are ranked among the top 100 catholic schools in the country and have five national National Merit Scholars including a National Merit Semi Finalist who placed in the top 1% of students nationwide.
- Our girls will be learning studio art in front of works by the Great Masters. Starting in January 2016, D.A. will partner with The Frick Museum to offer sketching classes taught by art professionals.
- We now offer more advanced placement courses than any other Catholic high school in New York. This year in addition to three new electives including Civil Rights in America, Law and Society, and Introduction to Computer Programming, we now offer Advanced Placement Environmental Science.
- New York City is our classroom. This fall students traveled to the American Museum of Natural History, the Museum of the City of New York, The Paley Center for Media and the Museum of Modern Art for immersion learning trips. Thank you for your continued support of Dominican Academy. We rely on your gift to ensure that the smart girls of today become the intelligent women of tomorrow.
Dominican Academy has been a home to me since the moment I stepped through the doors last September. As Freshman year went by in a blink of an eye, I've been truly able to refect on my time as a DA student. Everyone is always there for each other- it’s the definition of "one big happy family." From cramming for last minute vocab quizzes to group studying for a hard history test, we're always all doing it with each other, together.
DA is the place I go every Monday to Friday to learn and grow as a student and friend. Although it's sometimes pretty hard to get out of my warm cozy bed in the morning and trudge all the way into Manhattan, for DA, it is totally worth it. I have a smile on my face the minute I walk through the door, as this positive yet calm environment starts it's day. My friends never fail to give me a big smile the moment I walk in, and the teachers are ready to go when the bell rings, teaching me things I never knew existed. I learn all about the French Revolution in one class then move onto another, working on unit conversions and studying the theories of 1700s scientists. Each day is full of surprises and opportunities to grow, learn, and have a ton of fun.
I am also part of the soccer team at Dominican Academy, as well as a few after school clubs. These after school curriculars are where I’ve made a large amount of my friends at DA. Whether they be sophomores like me, or upperclassmen, I know I wouldn’t be friends with the people I’m friends with today without these clubs and teams. DA has given me ways to make friends outside of the classroom, and I am incredibly grateful for that.
