BENEFITING: DOMINICAN ACADEMY OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK
ORGANIZER: DOMINICAN ACADEMY OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK
EVENT DATE: Nov 29, 2016
I had prepared myself for high school, or at least I thought I had. I was ready for every uperclassmen to hate me, a backpack that was way to heavy, and teachers that would have no consideration for any life outside the classroom. Never was I more relieved than when I realized how wrong I was. While I'm positive that you will call me a liar for what I'm about to say I'm going to say it anyway: I LOVE MY SCHOOL.
Dominican Academy has (in only the last three months) become the place that I am excited to go to. I wake up and put on my uniform every morning with pride. DA has introduced me to people I hope to know for the rest of my life with different views and ethnic backgrounds. I have been able to join five clubs and two sports teams (go DA tigers!).
I know that I have made school sound like all play and no workbut I promise we learn tons at the same time. I am currently taking seven honors classes including Latin, Biology, World History, and English Literature. My teachers are welcoming, encouraging, and of course challenging. Every class I learn something new and find myself wanting to learn more.
It would be naive of me to think that all of this is free or that our small tuition covers all of the components of our school. This is why we are fundraising, to make sure that no club has to be cut or school trip cancelled, every donation counts so please give what you can. Thank you!
