BENEFITING: DOMINICAN ACADEMY OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK
ORGANIZER: DOMINICAN ACADEMY OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK
EVENT DATE: Nov 29, 2016
As you walk into Dominican Academy, what are some things that you might see? Red stairs, holiday decoriations, the front desk, etc. But when I walk into Dominican Academy, I see a place that has been my second home for only a few months. I see smiling faces, people that look like they are a family, and the most welcoming faculty and staff.
The first time that I walked into Dominican Academy at an open house, I was greeted by students that all said "Welcome to Dominican Academy" or "Good morning", and had a big smile on their face. I knew from that point on, that I wanted to go to high school here.
Now, some might ask why I love this school so much. Well, here are some reasons. Every morning when I walk in the door, I am welcomed with a "Good Morning" to start off my day. At D.A, there is a very small student to teacher ratio, so in each of my classes each teacher is able to tend to each student, and answer their questions. I feel that I can go to my teachers and my classmates with anything.
This past summer while I was preparing to start high school, I really wanted to focus on my studies, and not join that many clubs and activities. But now, in the middle of freshman year, I'm in more extracurricular things that I can count! Being in different clubs and sports has taught me not only time managment, but I have made so many new friends that I probably would not have met if I were not in these clubs.
I always seem to have a smile on my face when I am at Dominican Academy, and I am so lucky to be able to call this place my second home. I am really looking foward to everything that these next years in high school have in store for me!!
