BENEFITING: DOMINICAN ACADEMY OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK
ORGANIZER: DOMINICAN ACADEMY OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK
EVENT DATE: Nov 29, 2016
So I really hate doing this but I have to ask for your help.
Dominican Academy has been a HUGE part of my life for these past four years. I've spent the vast majority of my time there, and most of the time not spent there is spent reminiscing over the funny things that happened there or worrying about the work that I have to do for DA. All in all, my entire life for the past four years has been DA.
I think that DA is a very special place. We are unique because we are a small school in a big city. We have girls from all over the city and all over the world, so everyone has a different perspective on life. We draw from all social classes, all ethnicities, all walks of life. DA is special to me because, although it is super cliche, we really do form an amazing community where girls are not afraid to be themselves, as weird as they may be (myself very much included), to laugh together, to cry together, and to push eachother to be the best versions of ourselves.
As a tour guide for my school, I always like to close with why I chose DA. Despite the fact that I have two older sisters who both went to DA, choosing DA really was my own choice. I know that now more than ever as I am applying to college and am not even applying to the same school that they attend. Anyways, I chose DA because of the girls here. Because DA has a unique group of girls who are both kind and passionate, strong willed and open minded, hilarious and intelligent. I think that choosing DA was one of the best decisions that I have made in my relatively short life.
So, with that being said, my school needs help. In order to have such an awesome group of girls, our tuition is lower than the price of each student. As I have been told, we are all on a "scholarship." We make up most of this through alumnae donations, but as students, to show our appreciation for DA, we are required to raise money to give back to the school.
With that, I ask that you please give whatever you can, whether that be $200 or $2, anything can help. This is my way of showing appreciation for these last four years.
