BENEFITING: GROSSMONT HIGH SCHOOL EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
Our high school student investment club was featured in a cover story article in the Wall Street Journal, HOW COOL IS THAT?!?! The story is about the Facebook IPO and how our students plan on participating in it. Our project is designed to teach my students how to capitalize on opportunity and raise funds for our real-money student-managed investment portfolio.
We are seeking $2,500.00 of investable funds for our student-managed investment portfolio. 100% of these funds will be directly deposited into our investment portfolio. Our real-money student-managed investment portfolio is 100% student driven and ALL investment decisions are made by a majority vote.
Student give up their lunch break two days a week to attend CSIP meetings where they discuss current financial news, careers in finance, issues related to personal finance, and manage our real-money investments. Students donate 50% of all investment gains to the Grossmont High School Educational Foundation (a 501(c)3 organization). The CSIP is part of the GHSEF.
This project will provide our students with real-world hands-on experience and it will teach them how important it is to capitalize on once in a life time opportunities like this. How many of you learned how to make money work for you when you were in school? How many of you had the opportunity for your name and face to be seen by some of the most powerful people in the world? How many of you WISH your school would have provided you with such an opportunity? ...... I know, me to!
The CharityStudentInvestmentProject.com provides students with experiences that will change their lives and you can help us do it! Thank you.
