Bring food security and community resiliency to thousands of households in NYC, where 1 in 4 children suffers from malnourishment and restricted access to healthy produce. Help Teens for Food Justice win the $250K Crowdrise Holiday Challenge!
Take an idea from concept to reality: Help launch a brand-new hydroponic farm at a Title 1 school where 80 percent of children receive free lunch. Our first farm at Bed-Stuy New Beginnings Charter School grows hundreds of leafy greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, herbs, and even strawberries for distribution to families who live in a Brooklyn food desert. The farm is a living lab where 500 K-7 students learn sustainable science and urban farming and to love fresh, local food. It's where we train 35 committed teen volunteers to be future food justice leaders, learning and teaching skills to help families live and eat healthier.
With your support, we will:
Expand hydroponic farming and outreach to a new at-risk NYC community and increase impact to 1000+ families.
Help build a viable model for a rooftop hydroponic farm feeding 600+ schoolchildren daily and providing affordable produce to an entire neighborhood.
A $100 donation helps support a day of teen education in life-changing community health and wellness outreach
$1000 supports farming for one month and produce for 50 families
The intersection of resilient neighborhoods, food security and community wellness is about quality and quantity. On behalf of the most vulnerable New Yorkers, let’s face these twin challenges together and serve up lasting social impact.
