BENEFITING: Students Helping Honduras
SHH at Towson is a chapter of the International nonprofit Students Helping Honduras. SHH empowers volunteers to raise funds and awareness to help the poor in Honduras pull themselves out of poverty through education and housing. Our projects have included a total of six elementary schools and a community called Villa Soleada where SHH has built 44 homes, a clean water and sanitation system, 2 soccer fields and a learning center. SHH has also constructed a Children's Home and a library in Villa Soleada for orphaned children which has been almost entirely funded by Towson University. Here, these children will have access to housing, education, health and a family; perhaps for the very first time in their lives.
