The Greenville Tech Charter High School Students in Action team is beginning it's third year of service to our school and community. The students started this team in reaction to losing three parents to heart related trauma in one year. The group banded together and trained in Red Cross CPR enabling them to train the over 400 students at our high school in American Heart Association Hands Only CPR. The team has evolved into disaster relief for: a clothing drive for Syrian refugees, a food and cleaning supplies drive in response to Hurricane Matthew victims, and twice yearly blood drives.
This year's focus is on prevention: of drug use and depression leading to suicide. The team is currently planning a Career Connect Conference for area teens focusing on underservered students. Of course, CPR continues at school and community and you can bet the students will be jumping into action as challenges occur in our community.
