Corey Johnson wrote -Tired of hearing only bad news from Africa? So are we. Ready for a different story? Imagine Scholar works with some of the brightest, most motivated kids we’ve ever met and gives them the tools to break out of tough circumstances and go after their dreams.
Take Thenjiwe. She lives with her father and siblings in the remote village of Driekoppies. They depend on their cows and small plot of land for income. By the end of Imagine Scholar’s September writing workshop, Thenjiwe was crafting elegant full-length essays (complete with thesis statement, body paragraphs, and conclusion) like she’d been doing it her whole life. Throw in free-form poetry prompts, a discussion on the movie Contact about technology’s role in the world, and a field trip to the Astronomy Observatory in Pretoria, and she had a pretty big month.
Please consider a small recurring monthly gift to help Thenjiwe and the fourteen other Imagine Scholars. Monthly contributions of any size change these students' lives in a big way.
$16 a month… broaden an Imagine Scholar's worldview by providing all class materials and as many novels as they can read.
$38 a month… all the above plus their public school fees and uniforms, nutritious class meals, and field trips.
$77 a month… represents a comprehensive student sponsorship for one Imagine Scholar. You are singling handedly ensuring that a student has all the support needed to make their dreams a reality.
One-time donations are welcome as well!
Want to make a difference for Thenjiwe this October? No, not a “maybe” difference where perhaps some of your money goes to helping someone somewhere. A real difference that you can be proud of every day. The type that gives you goosebumps thinking that you really did change a part of the world for the better.
