BENEFITING: EPILEPSY FOUNDATION OF FLORIDA INC
I am Autumn Pough, a junior at Pembroke Pines Charter High School. At the age of nine, I had my first seizure, but the doctors could not pinpoint where it originated from. I was diagnosed with having Idiopathic Seizures, or Seizures with no known cause. Unlike many, I do not suffer from regular seizure activity and have recently been off of my medication for six months. My personal experience with Epilepsy influenced me to learn more about Seizures, such as their causes, treatments, and preventative measures. By creating the organization, Students Promoting Awareness of Seizures and Epilepsy (SPASE), I hope to inform my community on this common, but widely overlooked phenomenon. The proceeds donated will go to the Epilepsy Foundation of Florida, a non-profit organization that aids research for pursuing a cure and supports those who suffer from chronic seizure activity.
