Study Abroad in Ecuador!
Organized by: Alexis Diaz
Change of plans!
November 21, 2016
Hi friends and family and everyone from everywhere!
My name is Alexis Diaz. I have the coolest opportunity to be studying abroad in Quito, Ecuador during Spring 2017. I am STOKED. I am a first-generation college student at Azusa Pacific University and currently majoring in Social Work with a minor in Spanish. I'll be in Ecuador for about three and a half months starting on January 18th. APU has an extension in Quito and tuition is the same abroad as it is here in the states. Basically, I am extremely blessed to be paying such a small amount out of pocket.
I worked this summer in Yellowstone and was able to save money for the school year and I work about 10-12 hours on campus during the week. The money I earn goes to bills, books, food, and essentials for college. I do not have a lot of financial support from family due to hardship and that is okay because where the Lord guides, He provides!! He has provided for me through people from church, mentors, and close friends who care deeply for me. The support I am asking for is to help make the gap smaller of what I owe initially for tuition and for study abroad expenses and fees. Since I will not be able to work during my study abroad experience, it will be harder for me to pay for these things out of pocket because I do not have any income.
In Ecuador, I will be fulfilling my language requirements for my Spanish minor and will be immersed in a Spanish-speaking community, the best way to learn! The first month, I will be staying on campus with my cohort and the second month I will be at a homestay with a host family in Ecuador! The last month is back on campus and will later include traveling to the Galapagos Islands and other really cool places!
If you feel moved to donate a small amount, I will forever be grateful and indebted to your generosity. If you are not able to, I ask for support through prayer and encouragement for this unique opportunity! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about my upcoming trip or anything about life!! Thank you so much everyone!! God bless :)
