Study Abroad in the Amazon Rainforest
Organized by: Kate Skylar
EVENT DATE Jul 21, 2014
Friends and family,
Through my University, I was accepted into a 3 week program in the South American jungles of Guyana investigating human rights and the environment!
Many of you have followed my involvement with the Vermont Workers' Center over the last two years, where I have encompassed a multitude of roles in our movement to Put People and the Planet First through grassroots organizing, base-building, and a human rights framework.
For my continued growth as an organizer, the opportunity to explore issues of human rights on international level is an invaluable experience, and one that is really important to me as I pursue a Global Studies major.
In Guyana, I would be exploring the intersection of human rights and the environmental policies. During the 3 week program, I will have the opportunity to talk with and interview the Guyanese about their experiences and struggle to protect the forest.
Anything you can give is appreciated, and brings me one step closer to this amazing opportunity. :)
