Thank you very much for supporting me in my goal of completing the NYC Half Marathon, and in so doing raise some money for a worthy cause like Stupid Cancer! Firstly, as a young adult who has survived cancer myself, the goals of Stupid Cancer are ones that I know to be important. While I have been cancer free and out of the fight for several years now, there are many young adults who are battling on who need the support.
More importantly, I am running in memory of my good friend, Kelley Shea, who we lost this past December at the age of 27 after battling cancer for 6 years. Stupid Cancer was an organization that Kelley was very involved in, and cared about very deeply. She helped to raise money, organize events, and make people aware of all the good that the group is doing. Now that Kelley is gone, I would love to be one of the many who are helping to carry on that goal and her spirit in general.
