THE STORY:

Let’s talk Cancer: It’s a word so common now, it isn’t even a surprise to me when I am told another friend or family member has been diagnosed… I didn’t learn about cancer until I was a teenager, when it took the life of my Grandma Helen…and since then it seems it’s become all too common. And it’s a huge reason why I locked arms with Beautycounter. I've watched too many close friends (my age, 34, and younger) go through cancer treatments, lose their reproductive organs, and most of all, lose their lives. I’ve seen friend's and family’s children undergo surgeries and chemotherapy. I have lost too many wonderful people already to this awful beast and have more friends and family affected by cancer than I can even count.

I wish I could say my story is unique, but the fact is that Cancer touches us all. I am inspired daily by my 3 precious little ones and I want to have a positive impact on this world; the world they and their children will grow up in. Since 1975, childhood cancer has increased by 20%. Although all cancer is devastating, this is just a statistic that is unacceptable. Let’s Stand Up.

Today, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. 40 years ago that stat was 1 in 20.  Of the women today who are diagnosed with breast cancer, 90% do not have a mutation in the BRCA gene, the gene most commonly associated with breast cancer - so this dramatic increase isn't solely based on an increase in early detection. There is something environmental in play and we can control a huge part of that. More than 85,000 chemicals have been introduced into commerce since World War II and almost 90 percent of those ingredients have never been tested for safety on human health. THIS is why we do what we do at Beautycounter. It’s perfectly legal for companies to use harmful ingredients linked to cancer in the products we use on our skin every single day.

Beautycounter’s Mission is to GET SAFER PRODUCTS INTO THE HANDS OF EVERYONE. We deliver on our mission in three important ways: through our beautiful high performing products, education, and by advocating for more laws protecting health. This campaign with SU2C is an example of our mission in action. We believe that preventing exposure to potentially harmful ingredients in the products we use every day is simply the right thing to do. For too long, cancer has been the leading cause of death in Canada. It’s time to stop cancer in its tracks. STAND UP TO CANCER’S MISSION is to RAISE FUNDS to ACCELERATE THE PACE OF GROUNDBREAKING TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH that can get NEW THERAPIES TO PATIENTS QUICKLY AND SAVE LIVES NOW.

Join me in fundraising (every little bit helps) to Stand Up to Cancer. Make a donation through this fundraising page (Beautycounter corporate will match all consultant raised donations up to $50,000), or if you would like to support through your Beautycounter purchases this month, I will be donating 100% of my commissions from my “SU2C Social on a Mission”. Shop luxurious safe products for you and your family and you'll be contributing towards this incredibly important cause. Thank you for your support. Together we can make this world a safer place for our children, by limiting our exposure to toxic chemicals through our personal care products and supporting research and therapies for those battling Cancer right now.
